TREASURES
OF TRASH: “TRASHY”
“During
6th grade Science and Social Studies classes, students had the
opportunity to explore, discuss, collaborate, paint, color and draw some Jacob
Lawrence’s panels using six strategies to brainstorm arts-integrated lesson
ideas. Students used their personal connections to contextualize and associate
information about their perspectives of their family history, expressing their
culture to convey personal thoughts and emotions. In the cafeteria, students
collected plates, sporks, straws, napkins, bottles, and plastic items they use
daily during school lunch. The diverse population of students was inspired by
The Migration Series to collaborate and create the “Trashy”
piece of art.. Through this art-integrated unit, students studied The
Migration Series through close-looking, student-centered discussion,
drawing, and writing. Students explored the themes om migration and immigration
within Panel no. 3 : From every southern town migrants left by hundreds to
travel north, 1940-41, they CONNECTED the theme of migration to their own
lives, learning about their family’s experiences of moving from one place to
another. Students EMPATHIZED with their families and EXPRESSED their learning
in colorful drawings.”By Ms.

The
art department collaborated in shaping the structure of the sculpture that was
also transformed into an environmental message. We
have made a film of the process. Medium:Mixed Media: Recycled food trays, cutlery, school supplies,
glitter, wire, hair beads, plastics, broomstick, plastic milk box, ropes ...
garbage, markers, colored pencils, crayons, colored paper,
acrylics, transparent Tape; white cork, glitter, flour, glue, plastic, paper
lamp, cardboard pen.

"Love
is the Son of knowledge, and the greater this knowledge the greater"
Leonardo da Vinci. The video
aims to reflect four artistic activities worked with students from Spain and
the United States. It pretends to be a "planetary
argument" with music as an intercultural binding vehicle. The third piece is a musical collage.
I discovered that music motivates my new students when it comes to making art. The last piece, the rectangular
prism, we made it with the papers that I used to cover and protect the tables
in the classroom. I am very interested in making them aware of the need to care
for and respect materials, which do not have to be discarded when they are
used. Everything can be recycled.
I. THE TINY HOUSE Project: Enhance Capacities. We build manipulative materials and
didactic games for Elementary School children. A Learning-Service Experience with
students with special needs and educational support.

participation of students and volunteer teachers.
It collects landscapes of the
region, the multicultural reality and the history of "El Pricipito"
(Le Petit Prince), the most famous work of the French writer and aviator
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (1900-1944). The background
music is a famous jota aragonesa. The jota aragonesa is a manifestation of folklore in Aragón of a musical
genre , the jota , present in most of the Spanish geography .

"Big Four", key rhythmic innovation:The
second half of the Big Four is the pattern commonly known as the hambone rhythm,
developed from sub-Saharan African music traditions.
Marching band beat, first syncopated bass drum pattern to deviate from the
standard on-the-beat march.

Agradezco a mis abuelos y
antepasados que se reunieron para que hoy respire la vida…Los libero de las
fallas del pasado, y de los deseos que no cumplieron, conscientes de que
hicieron lo mejor que pudieron para resolver sus situaciones
dentro de la
conciencia que tenían en aquel momento.

El pasado viernes nuestra Elena Gastón dio rienda suelta a la creatividad que la caracteriza y orquestó una boda intercultural con posterior guateque que serviría como celebración de fin de curso y despedida de los alumnos de 4ESO en particular. No se trataba de una boda entre personas sino entre culturas, religiones, formas de ver el mundo. Se trataba de hermanarnos, como hicimos profesores y alumnos participando en la performance. Con sala de vestuario, maquillaje y peluquería, unos cuantos alumnos de Elena llevaban la dirección y organización del evento, junto a ella. Acompañando la boda, múltiples personalidades del mundo de la cultura y la política, conectada con Estados Unidos, se colaron en la representación con sus personales monólogos: las Fridas, el General Custer, la Estatua de la Libertad, Walt Whitman, Chaplin, Zeus, el maestro Yoda Federico García Lorca.
